  • Efficient sealing, easy maintenance, quick operation.
  • Integrates efficiency, reliability and cost-effectiveness

Product Description

A butterfly valve operates by means of a disc positioned in the center of the pipe, which rotates on a shaft perpendicular to the flow. When the disc is rotated 90 degrees, it either fully obstructs or allows the flow. The ‘soft sealing’ aspect refers to the valve’s use of elastomeric or polymeric materials like PTFE (Teflon), EPDM, NBR, or silicone as the seat seal. These materials have excellent resistance to wear, tear, and deformation while providing superior sealing performance under various temperatures and pressures.

Design and Operation

The stainless steel flanged soft seal butterfly valve consists primarily of a body, a resilient disc seat, a disc or vane, and an actuator. The disc, when turned, presses against the soft seat, creating a tight seal. This mechanism ensures zero or minimal leakage, particularly when the valve is closed. The bi-directional sealing capability of these valves makes them suitable for bidirectional flow applications.

Advantages

  • Leakage Control: The primary advantage of butterfly valve sealing is their exceptional sealing properties.
  • Versatility: Since they are compatible with a variety of fluids and temperature ranges, they are suitable for a wide range of industries.
  • Ease of Maintenance: With replaceable seats, maintenance is relatively straightforward.
  • Low Torque Requirement: The low friction between the soft seat and the disc results in lower torque requirements for operation, which can lead to reduced actuator size and energy consumption.
